Maria Kalorides is a mom of three children who fence, an attorney, and an entrepreneur. Maria watched how her oldest, neurodivergent son struggled in a fencing class of 20+ neurotypical children before he quit. Numerous times she watched as the coach gave directions that other kids were able to follow easily and succeed, while her son attempted, became frustrated and gave up.
Maria is an active member of her children’s academic communities and, as a mom of a neurodivergent child, over the last 17 years Maria has made it a priority to advocate for the rights of neurodivergent children and to promote academic and extracurricular programs that will give them an opportunity to thrive. Maria started and coached a home-based robotics teams with both neurodivergent and neurotypical children for over six years.
