Looking for a fun and exciting activity for your child to do?
Discover the exciting sport of Adaptive Fencing!
Welcome to Neurodiversity in Athletics! We are excited to announce that, in partnership with the New York Fencing Academy in Brooklyn, we have launched an Adaptive Fencing Program designed specifically with neurodivergent kids and teens in mind!
Our Adaptive Fencing Program offers small classes (up to 12 kids) and experienced coaches who are trained specifically on how to teach fencing to neurodivergent children in an effective way. Each class is 60 minutes with a fencing coach, assistant coach (for a class with 8 children or more) and a clinical professional (e.g., psychologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist or ABA therapist) for live guidance and support. While the content of a typical fencing class remains the same, the way the fencing class is taught is modified and adapted to fit the needs of the neurodivergent children.
Your child will engage in the sport of fencing in an athletically rigorous but therapeutically supportive environment while developing coordination, agility, balance, flexibility, confidence and frustration tolerance – skills that will stay with them for a lifetime!
